Lynsey Payne
Lynsey started performing at the age of six with her mother's touring puppet theatre company. She started playing music at the Cumbernauld Music Centre when she was eleven years old and then attended Douglas Academy School of Music where she developed her knowledge and delivery of classical music and started lessons with Josef Pacewicz. Lynsey continued her studies with Mr Pacewicz at the RSAMD and gained a BA honours degree in Musical Studies in 2005, specialising on saxophones.
Feis nan Gaidheal, a gaelic centre for learning in Scotland, has also been a large part of Lynsey's musical education. The feis have given have given her a wide range of performance opportunities. She has also taught for the feis around Scotland.
On leaving the RSAMD Lynsey embarked on an exciting project, part funded by the Scottish Arts council professional development fund. She flew to Switzerland regularly to receive lessons from Bruce Weinberger of the internationally acclaimed Raschér Saxophone Quartet.
Due to recent grants from the Dewar Awards, The Cross Trust and the Scottish International Education Trust, Lynsey has been able to start her Master of Music Performance degree in the United States at State University New York, Fredonia, with Dr. Wildy Zumwalt. She is extremely grateful to all the people who have given her the opportunities she has had so far.
